Ones you have to pay to use

Pauline thinks you need to know about: The FFHS website http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/    Pay for view indexes and transcriptions. Index entries cost 5p (except 'surname only' indexes which cost 3p) Transcriptions cost 7p (except census entries from 1851 onwards and marriage entries from July 1837 onwards which both cost 9p.) Any records not yet checked by the database provider cost 1p less in each case  (i.e. 2p, 4p, 6p or 8p). Vouchers available from FFHS Publications or Virtual Vouchers by Credit Card.  Vouchers last six months.  New user searches enable one to see if names of interest are included. Databases included: http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/database/index.shtml

Eve would like to mention: www.1837online.com . It has all Britain's BDM's on line, searchable for what seems a very reasonable fee. (Fees are currently £5 minimum and 5p per page of GRO index. The session can be suspended for up to 2 months.)
