The Late Mr Morris Blashkey- By the death of Mr. Morris Blashkey on Saturday last, the community has lost one of its earliest communal workers. Coming to Leeds over half a century ago, he took an active part in the then small community. He was one of the founders of the New Briggate Synagogue, and held office there for many years. Closely identified with its interests since its formation, he never missed attending every one of its Sabbath services. His son-in-law (Mr. H. Morris) is Treasurer of the Jewish Board of Guardians and Chairman of the Jewish Institute. The funeral, on Monday last, was attended by representatives of all congregations and institutions. Rabbi H. Hurwitz delivered a Hesped in the Synagogue, and at the graveside the RevT^TAbraBams, B.A., delivered an address. The Rev. S. Manson read the burial service. |
